About Us THE Northern Mindanao State Institute of /Science and Technology (MORMISIST), through its Vice President for Academic Affairs, Gaudencio Petalcorin, who is now the Biotechnoogy Information and Organization Networks (BIONet) National Chairperson, is the leading partner in the formation of BIONet CARAGA. The network was organized during a three-day workshop that started on September 27 and ended on September 29, 2006. BIONet CARAGA embark on biocommerce in papaya and abaca. NORMISIST is leading the BIOCommerce for CARAGA Region. They will be planting papaya for latex/papain supply which will be used for the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry. They will be supplying to a company that supplies 80% of the world demand for latex. If possible, they will also be using genetically modified delayed ripening and virus resistant papaya to be able to export the fruits. NORMISIST already has virus-free planting materials.
